What We’re All About
Fiddlehead School House is a developmentally appropriate preschool located in the hills of rural Maine that specializes in early childhood education in a warm, safe, and nurturing environment. We view each child as an individual and offer them meaningful learning experiences that support all developmental domains of Maine's Early Learning Guidelines.
We believe that there are many wonderful pieces from many different educational views and philosophies. We tend to resemble a classroom inspired by Maria Montessori and Loris Malaguzzi who pioneered The Reggio Approach. At Fiddlehead, we feel it's important to give the children a carefully prepared environment that is designed to teach the children respect and responsibility, all while giving them the opportunity to explore and discover. The children are able to move freely throughout the classroom at their own pace. It is the job of the teacher to respect each child and their learning process, working alongside of them, often asking questions like "why" and "how" to encourage the children to further their investigation and exploration.
